Harbor Seal on Ossining Waterfront

I've been hearing about harbor seals in Ossining for years. I interviewed two people who saw them about three years ago. I verified with fishery ecologist Professor Mark Bain at Cornell that indeed harbor seals travel up the Hudson River. But, somehow it never felt real. Until now. Photographed by John Mace in early spring 2005 on the Shattemuc Yacht club dock, this blissful looking harbor seal is soaking up the sun and adulation on the Ossining waterfront.
